A little bit about me::
Kia Orana, my name is Valoa Jack. With over 25 years of experience in counselling, addiction treatment, clinical assessment, and self-regulation therapy, I have dedicated my career to supporting individuals in their journey towards mental and emotional well-being. My expertise lies in working with young people, their families, and men, providing tailored interventions that address their unique needs and challenges.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma and a Degree in Psychology, along with a Diploma in Addictions Counseling, equipping me with a solid academic foundation and practical skills necessary for effective therapeutic practice. My approach is grounded in the belief that the brain's stress response primarily drives many overwhelming biochemical reactions individuals experience.
To help manage these reactions, I incorporate a variety of somatic activities into my practice. These include exercise, which helps to regulate physical and emotional states; meditation, which fosters mindfulness and stress reduction; and critical self-reflection, which empowers individuals to examine and modify their thoughts and behaviours. By integrating these techniques, I aim to empower my clients to achieve greater self-regulation, resilience, and overall mental health, instilling a sense of control and confidence in their journey.
My passion for this work is driven by a deep commitment to helping others navigate their stressors and improve their quality of life. Through a compassionate and rigorously evidence-based approach, I strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those I work with, providing them with the reassurance and security that they are in good hands.
