A little bit about me::
Will Walmsley, AOD Practitioner, Clinical Supervisor and Counselor Will has 30 years experience supporting people including over a decade’s worth of Clinical experience in the AOD and mental health field. He has extensive counselling and group facilitation experience and has spent much of that time working within a custodial setting providing psycho educational training, 1-1 counselling and managing clinical professionals. Will is passionate about helping people to remain resilient and enjoys empowering clients to resolve issues and make meaningful changes both personally and professionally. Will draws on his lived life experience as well as his academic studies to provide a solution and strengths-based counselling service for clients. In total Will has 30 years of experience helping people in a variety of roles. He has 10 years clinical experience and provides supervision for Counselors and allied health professionals. Will's clinical experience was mainly working in custodial environments and community rehab settings, this was with odyssey house both in Auckland and Christchurch. Since 2022 will has worked as a clinical lead providing leadership for counsellors and support workers for a leading south Island EAP service. He has also worked for St John Ambulance service (nationally)s a Psychological health and well-being advisor. This was was mainly supporting senior managers and staff in relation to PTSD, burnout and complex mental health issues. Will still works as contractor to the Canterbury men's center Beside s 1-1 counselling will is focused on offering bespoke counselling solutions for businesses and organisation's to help support staff with their life and work challenges. Everyone has a duty of care to look after our friends, family and co-workers. It is not weak to ask for help, it is actually a sign of strength to acknowledge when it is time to make a change and reach out to someone who knows how to help us get us back on track and maintain our mental health and well-being.
