A little bit about me::
Kia ora, ko Wendy Talbot ahau. I whakapapa Maaori but did not grow up with Te Ao Maaori. My supervision mahi is primarily guided by narratively informed ideas and practices. I work alongside counsellors and practitioners from a range of professions whose mahi focuses on peoples’ relationships with a range of issues issues, such as ‘addictions’, substance (mis)use, and the social, cultural and political contexts that inform these. A recent area of interest for me is narrative approaches to assessments that are conducted as part of agency requirements, information gathering, mental health, addictions, suicide and other risks people face in their lives. A current research area is narrative therapy and addictions in Aotearoa. Alongside my supervision practice I teach on the University of Waikato Master of Counselling as a Senior Teaching Fellow and have been a registered member of NZ Association of Counsellors since 1995. I have been an Accredited Supervisor with dapaanz since 2019. My main means of supervision is Zoom or similar electronic meeting platforms and where possible I can meet with you in your practice rooms.
