A little bit about me::
Hariata Kohunui is a proud Maori woman with iwi affiliations to Te Arawa and Whakatohea. She has dedicated over 25 years to working within the addictions, gambling, and alcohol and other drug (AOD) sectors. She is also a Registered Social Worker, serving communities across the Central Bay of Plenty/Waiariki rohe.
Hariata is a DAPAANZ-accredited Clinical and Professional Supervisor and holds Kaumatua recognition within the DAPAANZ whanau, reflecting her experience, wisdom, and leadership within the addictions field.
Her practice is deeply grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga Maori, and kaupapa Maori principles. She brings a strong cultural lens to her work, ensuring her supervision and clinical practice uphold Maori values, promote whanau wellbeing, and honour the interconnectedness of iwi and hapu.
Hariata is passionate about all things Maori, with a deep commitment to fostering spaces that are culturally safe, inclusive, and empowering for practitioners and whanau alike.
